Pastoral Update
District Superintendent Laurie Kantonen, in working with the Minnesota Annual Conference’s cabinet of superintendents and Interim Bishop David Bard, presented a pastor’s name to the SPRC of RUMC of Park Rapids on Wednesday January 27th.  After a thorough time of discernment, the SPRC whole-heartedly affirmed the appointment of Riverside’s new pastor and he affirmed it, too.  Mike Boettcher, the SPRC chairperson at RUMC announced this on Sunday January 27th. Riverside's new pastor is the Rev. Roger Grafenstein!

Rev. Roger Graenstein will begin serving as the resident pastor of Riverside UMC on June 27th, 2021.  He and his wife (Michelle - goes by “Chele”) have been married 35 years as of this year and they have a 30 year old daughter and a 26 year old son.  The Grafensteins have lived in the Moorhead area as of late.  He has served at Grace UMC in Moorhead since 2010.  He served in Faribault from 1999-2010.  He served in the Beardsley and Browns Valley area from ‘93-’99 and served 4 years at Pembina, Humboldt, Joliette UMCs before that.
Additional information will be provided later on in various publications and postings through RUMC’s communication vehicles (newsletters/bulletins/website/FaceBook).  Pastor Scott Jakel does not know what his next interim call will be as of yet.  He’ll plan to have his last Sunday at Riverside on or before June 13th, 2021. Please plan to be in prayer as Riverside goes through this time of transition so that God's work will be done among us and that God's name would be glorified!
