The Missions Committee of RUMC are highlighting these alternative giving options this year.
Give locally, & give  “clean water,” and “nets” to keep people safe and healthy, then help give “chicks” for better nutrition and increased income. Add in some animals from Heifer International and we can make a spectacular difference in the lives of real people who have far less than we have.  What a wonderful package of gifts!

1. Safe Drinking Water | Wellspring for the World:

You can give toward the Wellspring. The mission of Wellspring for the Word is to provide safe drinking water for the people of the world. http://www.wellspringfortheworld.org/

Every $1 will be matched to become $5 toward a water point, which on average costs $12,500.  So $2,500 in donations will now fund a new water point that will serve an average of 250 people!  And $50 will provide clean water for one person for decades.

Donations can be sent to Wellspring at P.O. Box 936 Park Rapids, MN 56470. Through their partnership with World Vision, they are funding water projects in the African Countries of Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia. Having access to clean water provides a foundation for good health and sanitation, food security, and education.

2. Mosquito Nets | United Nations Foundation
We’ll work with the United Nations Foundation/Nothing But Nets and send your donation for mosquito nets to P.O. Box 96539 Washington, DC 20077-7639. The net result of you giving money to the church will be a net benefit for others. https://www.un.org/.../emergency-request-united-nations...
3. Give an Animal, End Hunger & Poverty | Heifer:
The gift of a flock of chicks can change the lives of an entire family. For $20 you can lift a family out of poverty with this gift.
Give directly to our church and we'll order the chicks. You can also go online to www.heifer.org/gift-catalog/index.html and order a sheep for $120, an Alpaca for $150, trees for $60, a Biogas stove for $1,000, a heifer for $500, or a goat for $120. Giving an animal is like giving someone a small business, providing wool, milk, eggs and more. Animal donations can provide families a hand up, increasing access to medicine, school, food and a sustainable livelihood.
4. Toys for Boys & Girls:
Area families or businesses who want to adopt a family for Christmas can do so by calling Tanja at 218-255-6056. Gift pickup is also available.
Gifts ordered online can be delivered to: TGBTT 16095 Garnet Drive Park Rapids, MN 56470. Store or food gift cards in an envelope labeled Toys for Girls and Boys can be dropped off at Tru Star in Nevis or Park Rapids. Cash donations will also be accepted at Tru Star. https://www.parkrapidsenterprise.com/.../6764246-Dont-let...\
5. Toys for Tots:
New toys can be brought to drop boxes at Coborn’s, Hugo’s, Walgreens, Ace Hardware, Jake's Barber, Walmart, and the radio station in Park Rapids, to be distributed by Toys for Tots.
